There are various reasons why people enjoy playing the cowboy action shooting game.  Shooting is probably the obvious reason but many participants enjoy the costume aspect as much or more than ringing steel.  Some folks like to play dress up and some with a hambone might just like to pretend while they live the fantasy of the Old West.  For some, historical accuracy is important and others like the fantasy of becoming a persona, either historic or imaginary.  For whatever reason, all of us have fun donning our cowboy duds and being a part of the fun.  Here’s the line up for this year   sponsored by the fine folks at Pearl & Penelope’s Bloomer Emporium.

Working Costumes
Judging will be done on Friday 2 pm - 4p m and Saturday 12 noon to 2 pm.  Come by Pearl &    Penelope’s Bloomer Emporium and show off and/or tell them about your best working costume.  Competition will be for Best Working Cowboy, Best Working Cowgirl (saloon girl costumes can also be worn for this category) Best Working JR Boy and Best Working JR Girl (age for this  category will be 5yrs to 18 yrs old).  These awards will be announced on Sunday at the Awards  Ceremony.

Saturday Evening Costumes
Complete your entry forms and drop them off beginning Thursday May 22nd and no later than       Saturday May 24th by 2 pm at Pearl & Penelope’s tent.  Judging will be at the Saturday Casino night venue and will start at 6 pm.  Closing time will be announced that evening hopefully ending by 7:30 pm.
Competition Categories will be as follows:
Best Evening Wear:  Ladies, Men, Couples, Military and Junior’s (18 and under).  There will be Runner up awards in these categories as well. 
Best Cowboy Cartoon Character:  Examples: Quick Draw McGraw, Yosemite Sam, and Deputy Dog just to name a few. Have fun! Some of you remember them better than others!
Best Impression of a Movie Character or a real Historical Cowboy:  Examples:  John Wayne, Matt Dillon, Doc Holiday, Billy the Kid, Custer, Sitting Bull, Annie Oakley, Miss Kitty, Big Valley, Bonanza or Deadwood Characters. There are many, many more. Be creative have fun and do     something different. See if we can guess and of course recite a few lines if your character overcomes you!
Best B Western:  Ladies and Men’s
All evening event awards will be announced at the Saturday evening Gala.

Best Hat Awards
Throughout the entire event, Pearl & Penelope will be looking for the best Ladies/Cowgirl Hat and Best Cowboy Hat.  Awards will be announced at the Sunday awards ceremony.

Honorable Mentions
Everyone takes a lot of pride in creating their persona we enjoy seeing all costuming. It is a historical and very individual thing as well. So don’t be surprised if you get called upon to show off yer duds.
